The aspiration to promote and propagate the teachings pertaining to the ground, path and fruition in Buddhism based on the commentaries of Sutra and Tantra written by the great master Kuenkhen Pema Karpo developed continuously within us from a very long time.
And especially, it was back in 2014 during the Chetsun Nyingthig empowerment given by HH the 68th Je Khenpo Kyabje Tenzin Dondup at Khanbandi Gonpa, that I received suggestions from Ven. Khenpo Karma, Khenpo Nima and some senior monks to create a group on social media for conducting discussions and share ideas regarding the teachings of Buddha. And we are fortunate to have met Khentrul Rinpoche Tenzin Choki Jungney who pledged to provide all financial and other necessary assistance. So with all the required ideals and supports, we established “Kuenkhen Drukpai Choera”, a group on wechat as a platform to discuss and interchange individual understanding of the teachings of Buddha. The discussions were based on the commentaries of Kuenphen Pema Karpo supported by the words of Buddha and individual intelligence and skills.
After receiving so many positive feedbacks and seeing an increase in the number of participants, we conducted the first ever live discussion for five days at Phuntsholing Pelden Tashicholing Shedra in 2015 which drew a large number of Khenpos and monks from within and outside the country.
With more number of enthusiastic participants, we successfully conducted the second and third live discussions in the years 2016 and 2017 respectively. The presentations and research papers on Buddhist studies prepared by participants are compiled together and so far we have published three magazines. This way we were able to serve our young monks and monastic students in improving their knowledge and experience in Buddhist studies. Hereafter, we express our prayers and wishes for discussions in “Kuenkhen Drukapi Choera” to increase like the waxing moon and continue without interruption like a flowing river.
We offer our special thanks to the Central Monk Body of Bhutan and the abbots and monks of Buddhist Institutes within the country for their active participation and support.
And we would like acknowledge the continuous educational and financial assistance provide by Khentrul Rinpoche Tenzin Choki Jungney.
